Scrisoarea lui Ilie Năstase pentru toți românii
Buna, dragii mei!
Niciodata a politicienilor.
Cu drag, oriunde sunteti in lume, va iubesc dragii mei compatrioti!
Ilie Nastase

Greetings, my beloved!
I have been bothered for some time about the imposed limits in my country, Romania. I am a simple man, who had the greatest luck in life, to be mentally free. To live his life with good and with bad, to benefit from God’s blessing of great talent in tennis, from the happiness that comes from bringing together close relationships with people from around the world, people who have excelled in what they have done. Actors, athletes, politicians, businesspeople.
With all I have kept a close relationship, because I was and remain a normal man.
Much later in life I realised that I made my country proud and my people happy, giving them hope that things can improve, that the world doesn’t have imposing borders that it once did when everything was under communist control.
I enjoy what the American Constitution provides – the right to happiness. Because of this, first of all, I ask you all to ask for your right to be normal, to take happiness from life. Don’t live other peoples lives. Not a politician’s. Without exceptions, from beginning to end.
I have been married a few times, I have children, nieces and nephews, and I will soon be married again at the age of 73 years.
I am a free man. Again I will say this, so you understand, you have to know what you want from your life. Be free and enjoy every day of your lives.
A close friend of mine, Gabi, asked me to accept, in the twilight of my life, to make yet another effort to take Romania out of the “moonless night” in which it finds itself now. If you believe that in the last years of my life I can be your soldier, if you understand that nothing material drives me forward in this opportunity, I await you by my side.
I have yet the strength like my friends from the around the world, to change Romania for the better.
With love, anywhere you may be in the world, I love you, my beloved compatriots!
Ilie Nastase
